Camp Hope Lodge

Thanks to generous donations, there is a new building on the grounds of Camp Hope. After three short months and just in time for Veterans Day 2011(11/11/11), construction was completed on the Camp Hope Lodge as eight Soldiers were welcomed for the fall rifle-hunting season. The 2,000 square foot lodge building consists of a large common room with a kitchen, mess hall area and plenty of living space; downstairs there is a huge storage area. The Lodge is already an integral part of Camp Hope’s infrastructure - giving Soldiers an indoor area in which to gather and spend time with each other, talk and eat meals together. It will also become a place where Camp Hope’s many donors and friends will meet and gather.

Two large donations made to Camp Hope over the summer and a very successful golf tournament brought in the funds, which enabled the construction to begin on August 6, 2011. The AMVETS, a longtime supporter of Camp Hope, presented a check for $20,000 at the organization’s National Convention, which was held in St. Louis in August. The AMVETS (amvets.org) has taken on Camp Hope as its national charity for 2010 and 2011. The funds were raised through poker runs, rides, raffles and other fundraising activities held throughout the years. The AMVETS (American Veterans) is one of America’s foremost veterans service organizations with a proud history of assisting veterans and sponsoring numerous programs that serve our country and its citizens.

New Friend of Camp Hope, UTI (go2uti.com), made a generous $15,000 donation for the construction of the Lodge Building. UTI is a supply chain management company that provides air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics and distribution, custom brokerage, managed transportation services and supply chain analysis and consulting through its more than 370 offices in more than 60 countries. Camp Hope connected with UTI in March of 2011 at the NDTA/SDDC Transportation and Logistics Symposium in Dallas. Because of UTI’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, it chose Camp Hope to support as part of its Delivering Better Lives charitable organization.

In July 2011, a golf tournament held at Stone Wolf Golf Course, which benefited Camp Hope brought in additional funds. At the live auction portion of the event, the owners of Service Electric and Certified Heating and Cooling each donated their services, labor and the materials needed to complete the electrical, heating and cooling for the Lodge Building. The auction also brought in more than $5,000 in additional donations to bring more Soldiers to Camp Hope.

Other generous donors and many successful fundraising events throughout the spring and summer of 2011 helped provide the necessary support to complete the project.

Army Captain Joe Bogart

After an IED Explosion legally blinded me I knew my life would not be the same. I thought I would never be able to participate in the activities I enjoyed before fighting overseas. Then I spent a weekend at Camp Hope and now all that has changed. Thank you, Camp Hope!

Army Sgt Bobby Lisek

Thank you so much for this great opportunity, I have finally met someone that has been through the same stuff as me, it has been a blessing.

Army Sgt Jared Feldman

It means a lot for me to be here this weekend, this is incredible, I am really touched by what they are doing.
