Biographical Sketches of Board Members

William “Mike” White, President

Mr. White is a native of Valles Mines, Missouri. He entered the United States Army in January of 1979 and served in Panama, Germany, North Carolina, Kentucky, where he was honorably discharged from the military. He has worked for the Dept. of the Army since being discharged.

He has been married to his wife, Galia since 1981. They had two children, Michael, and Christopher, who was 23 years old when he was killed by IED in June of 2006 in Iraq.

Mr. White is the founder and president of Camp Hope. Camp Hope is not only in memory of his son Christopher but it is also in memory of every man and woman that has paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and way of life.

Mr. White served seven years on the Board Directors for Automotive Technology at Elizabethtown Votech School in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Craig Steven White

Craig “Steve” White and his wife Teresa are both Missouri Natives. Steven was a career naval officer with over 12 years of service. After retiring from the Navy in 1996, he spent over 13 years teaching High School ROTC in Chicago Illinois and Springfield, Missouri. Steven and Teresa have one son, Craig. Steven’s naval career has given him the opportunity to be stationed all across the United States. Currently, the White Family calls Springfield Missouri home.

Steve enjoys hunting fishing and boating and spending days working outdoors. Steve is a board member for Camp Hope and a part of Chris Neal Farm. Steve and his family are looking forward to serving their fellow veterans and families. They hope their efforts will bring comfort back into their lives and their experiences at Camp Hope will create wonderful memories for the veterans that served. Catherine M. Boyer

Mrs. Boyer is a graduate of Fort Zumwalt High School in O’Fallon, Missouri and attended St. Mary’s University in O’Fallon, Missouri. She currently resides in DeSoto, Missouri, with her husband Edward Boyer and their children.

Mrs. Boyer is Vice President of EA Boyer Building & Design, Inc., a commercial general contractor. Among other things her responsibilities include supervision of all accounting and human relations for the company. While her husband, LTC COL Boyer was deployed to Afghanistan she managed the entire company for 16 months. Prior to her employment with the company, she worked as a paralegal and also attained several certifications in the fitness industry.

She is on the Board of Directors of Get Healthy DeSoto and is a past board member of the DeSoto Chamber of Commerce where she chaired several fund raising events. She is also a past board member of the DeSoto Community Foundation and was on the DeSoto Bicentennial Committee and chaired the two day festival for the bicentennial. She is active in volunteer work such as monthly deliveries of food to shut-ins. Her advisory roles include fund raising for the Jefferson County Fair and several other fund raising events throughout her community.

Robyn McPherson, Secretary

Ms. McPherson was born in St. Louis MO, and graduated from DeSoto High School. She attended Jefferson Community College in Hillsboro, Missouri. She lives in O’Fallon, Missouri, with her two children, Nacy and William.

She is currently the Training Director for Mid America Regional Information Systems, Inc., located in St. Louis Missouri. She has been an instructor for over 27 years.

She has been involved in fund raising over the years as her daughter’s Girl Scout leader, a member of the PTA, Parents as Teachers, The American Red Cross, Big Brother/Big Sister Program, American Cancer Society, and numerous benefits.

James P. Hunot

James was born in the city of St. Louis, Missouri on January 18, 1942. He attended Poplar Bluff High School in Poplar Bluff, Mo. and graduated in 1959. Upon graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served in California, North Carolina, Okinawa, and Vietnam. Corporal Hunot was honorably discharged in1963, shortly after his marriage to Linda Cross-Hunot also of Poplar Bluff. They have two sons, Jim Jr. and Mike.

After 39 years of employment, James retired from the Post Dispatch Newspaper and now resides in beautiful Valles Mines, Mo. He enjoys boating and camping during his leisure. James is a life member of the Amvets Post 48 in DeSoto, Mo. where he volunteers his work for the betterment of all veterans and has held several positions as an officer.

Amy Di Leo

Amy Di Leo is the founder of Aim Hi Public Relations (www.aimhipr.com), a national PR company, specializing in creating unique community, media, and public relations strategies, press-worthy events, and original website content for its clients. Amy is a journalist: a contributing writer for PSP magazine (plasticsurgerypractice.com) and former television producer and writer. She also has a background in government, as she was the very first Press Secretary for the Suffolk County Legislature on New York’s Long Island.

Prior to starting Aim Hi PR, Amy was Media Relations Director for the American Cancer Society’s Eastern Division, serving most of the metropolitan New York area. Besides proudly sitting on the Board of Directors for Camp Hope (www.chrisnealfarm.com), Amy volunteers her expertise and time for several other philanthropic causes, including the American Cancer Society’s Camp Adventure (www.cancer.org/campadventure), a children’s oncology camp; Labs4Rescue (www.labs4rescue.com), and she is also an Advisory Board member for Operation Proud Hearts, which is a national organization that assists soldiers and their families.

Michael L. Christopher

Mr. Christopher was born In DeSoto, Mo. and graduated from DeSoto High School class of ‘66. He also graduated from the University Of Wisconsin Graduate School Of Banking with a degree in banking

He has been employed by the Bank of Hillsboro for the past 37 years. He is currently Vice President and manages the overall operations of the bank.

After graduation, Mr. Christopher entered the Army in 1969. He was sent to Vietnam where in May 1970; he was severely wounded and discharged in October 1970... His medals include the Bronze Star with “V” device for combat actions and Purple Heart for wounds received along with several campaign medals.

Mike’s memberships include Hillsboro Civic Club, Am Vets Post #48 (Life Member), Elks Lodge #689, VFW Post 1831, American Legion Post, Festus, Mo.

Mike lives in DeSoto with his wife Vicky. They have two grown sons. Cody & Drew. He enjoys fishing & hunting and out door sports.

Mary Ann Hinch

Mrs. Hinch was born in Corpus Christi, Texas. She graduated from High School in Deming, New Mexico. She attended and graduated from Mid-America Nazarene University with a double major in Elementary Education and Special Education. She taught for 15 years before going to work in her husband’s accounting firm in De Soto, Missouri.

She is the mother of 3 sons (one of which is in the Marines stationed presently in Pakistan), the grandmother to 1 grandson with a granddaughter on the way in December.

She is very active in her local church, being a board member, steward, secretary and treasurer. She also teaches Sunday School and coordinates all fundraisers for the Youth Department.

She was one of the instrumental members in forming the local CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association) in Festus, Missouri. Her job title for the board of this organization is Treasurer as well.
