bikers in Chemult, OR

I'm a trucker. I was having breakfast next to the truck stop in Chemult, OR this morning and started visiting with an RVer who has hooked up with the vets biking around the country. I found it to be a very interesting story and wanted to be a part of the ride, but had to make my deliveries today and wouldn't have a chance to catch up with them. They were going up to see Crater Lake today, and boy is that an awesome place to see!

Memorial Day

On Monday, Memorial Day events are happening all across the country. There will be parades, concerts, special sporting events, etc.

There are other less known events happening as well. Those are the reading of the names of the citizens of each state, county and township who gave their lives in defense of their nation and in defense of other nations and their people.

This is a time to reflect on those sacrifices and those who made them. Remember not only the soldier, sailor, airman and Marine who died, but also the families who bore that sacrifice of a loved one.

Camp Hope and its Silence

It's been awhile since I have been to the place of comfort and serenity. Many may not understand but a few will. I may not have much to offer but understanding and compassion, but my inner wounds out weight all that I say. I may not be physically or visiablly disabled but my mind and my soul is on a different path. Some call it depression, I think of it more as repression. Some how and some way I won the lottery of life but feel sad and regretful about it. To many have died, not only in my arms but in the arms of those I know and trusted.

As we prepare for Memorial Day Let's not forget!

As we prepare for the Memorial Day holiday lets have a solemn remembrance of those brave souls who made the eternal sacrifice at the calling of their nation.

On foreign soil and in the air they met their final fate wearing the uniform of freedom. When our nation called, they answered, when freedom was jeopardized, they fought, when danger drew near they ran to the sound of gun’s.

They are the sons and daughters of liberty…they are the legacy of courage…they are the reason we build statues, memorials, and walls of honor.

Iraqi Veteran paying respect

My name is Chris Miller and I served in the Us Army for 12 years before being flown outof Iraq in 2003. My unit, 2nd BN 18th FA MLRS, was in support of the 11 ACR, 101st Airborn DIvision, and 3ID. As a SFC my injuries sustained were minor comparied to those of many Disabled Veterans of this War. I was finally, without the will and fight to stay in, medically retired Feb 15, 2005. Life has been interesting for me ever since I left the military. A career that was well on the way to retirement after 20yrs.
